Son Excellence Monsieur Régis Kévin BAKYONO a présenté, le samedi 25 mars 2023, ses lettres de créance au Saint-Père, le Pape François, en sa qualité d’Ambassadeur Extraordinaire et Plénipotentiaire du Burkina Faso près le Saint-Siège, au Vatican. A l’occasion de cet acte solennel, l’Ambassadeur BAKYONO a eu des échanges avec le Souverain Pontife. Ils ont abordé des questions relatives à la situation sécuritaire et humanitaire qui prévaut au Burkina Faso, ainsi qu’au renforcement de la coopération entre les deux États.
Le nouvel Ambassadeur du Burkina Faso près le Saint-Siège a indiqué que les autorités de la Transition burkinabè accordent une attention particulière à la lutte contre le terrorisme au Burkina Faso et se sont résolument engagées pour la sauvegarde et la restauration du territoire national dans le strict respect des droits de l’Homme.
Il a dès lors souligné qu’il était essentiel que le Saint-Siège invite les partenaires internationaux à apporter au Burkina Faso, tout l’appui nécessaire pour une sortie de crise.
Se disant particulièrement préoccupé par les défis auxquels le Burkina Faso est présentement confronté, le Souverain Pontife a marqué sa disponibilité pour plus de proximité avec notre pays à travers notamment les différents canaux à disposition du Saint-Siège. Exprimant son attachement et son ouverture à l’Afrique qu’il qualifie de « continent du futur », en raison de son immense potentiel, de la force et l’intelligence de sa jeunesse, le Pape François a formulé des prières à l’endroit du Burkina Faso et lui a accordé sa bénédiction apostolique.
